The Changing Global Meaning of Work with Intersections of Wellness, Access, and Labor Market Shifts
virtual
This year's theme reflects some of the more pressing issues career developers experience: "The changing global meaning of work with intersections of wellness, access, and labor market shifts."
Dr. David Blustein and Carol Vecchio are keynote speakers at the Conference.
David L. Blustein is a Professor and the Golden Eagle Faculty Fellow in the Department of Counseling, Developmental, and Educational Psychology at Boston College. Dr. Blustein is the author of The Psychology of Working: A New Perspective for Career Development, Counseling, and Public Policy and The Importance of Work in an Age of Uncertainty: The Eroding Experience of Work in America. He has instrumental in developing psychology of working theory, which represents an inclusive and social justice-informed perspective on the role of work in people's lives and in their communities. Dr. Blustein has contributed numerous articles and book chapters on psychology of working theory, unemployment, career development/counseling, psychotherapy, decent work, dignity at work, precarious work, relationships and work, social class, race, and other aspects of contemporary working. He also has consulted with national and international organizations, such as the International Labor Organization, OECD, and the United Nations Development Program.
Carol Vecchio is an author, international speaker, and master career counselor. Having worked at New York University, Fordham University School of Law, and in private practice, in 1992 she founded the not-for-profit Centerpoint Institute for Life and Career Renewal in Seattle, Washington. Her professional development includes a degree in psychology, graduate studies in counseling, and extensive training with Richard N. Bolles. Carol has worked with people in a wide variety of fields and professions; since 1983, one of her specialties has been assisting lawyers and the legal profession. Her purpose in life is to help others embrace and learn from the uncertainty that change brings, uncover what makes them unique, and create lives that they love. Carol’s pioneering programs have positively inspired tens of thousands of people — many who couldn’t pinpoint their need at the time — but are now designing and living lives they love. She created the renowned “Natural Cycles of Change,” which is the foundation for her published book, The Time Between Dreams: How to Navigate Uncertainty in Your Life and Work. Carol has been in her own “time between dreams” for the past few years and from which she is just beginning to emerge. She looks forward to sharing her insights, struggles, and learning with you.
